Mydentist, a UK dental corporation, and Tempdent, a dental apprenticeships, training and recruitment provider, have announced a new partnership.

The collaboration will see Tempdent become the primary apprenticeship provider for all Mydentist trainee dental nurses, further strengthening both organisations’ dedication to excellence in dental healthcare and the professional development of aspiring dental nurses.

Tempdent will guide Mydentist’s trainees through the Level 3 Dental Nurse Apprenticeship programme. Upon completing the 18-month course, successful apprentices will achieve General Dental Council (GDC) registration, granting them the qualifications required to practice legally as dental nurses in the UK.

The Level 3 Dental Nurse Apprenticeship programme offers apprentices 15 online modules to build essential skills such as infection control, patient care, and practice safety. Delivered through a combination of live online workshops, interactive tasks, and one-to-one sessions with Tempdent’s tutor assessors, the programme ensures a robust learning experience tailored to each apprentice.

Mydentist’s practice managers and apprentice mentors will provide ongoing support to apprentices. This dual support system guarantees that trainees progress through the course while thriving in their roles.

Jayne Owen, head of learning and development at Mydentist, commented, “The Mydentist academy has run the UK's largest student dental nurse programme since 2016. Continuing to develop industry-leading nurse development programmes is a key priority for us, and the partnership with Tempdent brings together many experts to do just that.”

Excellence in training

The partnership has forecast a 13 per cent growth in dental nurse apprenticeship numbers in 2025. Mydentist, which supports over 3.8m patients annually through its 530+ practices, has said the initiative is part of its mission to ensure high-quality, accessible oral healthcare across the UK.

Libby Jones, chief people officer at Mydentist, said, “We’re thrilled to partner with Tempdent as our preferred apprenticeship provider for all Mydentist trainee dental nurses. Nurturing new talent and opening up opportunities to work within the UK dental sector is incredibly important to us here at Mydentist and our new partnership, alongside our incredible academy, will allow us to offer unparalleled support to aspiring dental nurses.

“I’m looking forward to seeing the partnership come to life over the coming months and with National Apprenticeship Week now taking place, am hopeful that this marks an exciting chapter for many apprentice dental nurses who are embarking on their career.”

With 28 years of expertise, Tempdent’s latest Qualification Achievement Rates (82.8 per cent) expect to exceed the national average score by 29 per cent.

Lorraine Nadel, managing director at Tempdent, said, “The partnership between Tempdent and Mydentist demonstrates our commitment to achieving excellent apprenticeship outcomes, whilst providing an exceptional learner experience to each and every dental nurse.

“Both companies share common values, and we look forward to sharing our best practices together to continue to grow quality apprenticeships in the dental sector, providing strong career pathways for all our dental nurses. We are excited to continue building on this foundation and look forward to the opportunities ahead to further elevate our impact in the dental sector."
