Dental nurse council member
The College of General Dentistry (CGDent) has announced changes to the membership of its council, with four members newly appointed and two re-elected. Former British Association of Dental Nurses (BADN) chairman and long-time BADN member Debbie Reed, a dental nurse for almost 40 years, has been appointed to represent dental nurses.
Cosmetic injections study
According to an analysis of the UK’s cosmetic injectables industry by UCL researchers, 68 per cent of cosmetic practitioners who are administering injections such as Botox are not medical doctors.

APPG hosts smoking event
New data published on July 19, 2023, shows that the public believes further action is needed to tackle smoking. The data is published as MPs and peers gather at an event hosted by the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Smoking and Health to mark four years since the government committed to make England ‘smokefree’ by 2030. Progress has been stalled, and Cancer Research UK estimate it will be missed by nine years. Smoking is currently still killing one person every five minutes in England.
