Diabetes drug treats gums

In their latest publication in the Journal of Translational Medicine, a team of researchers at King’s College London have found new ways of stopping periodontal (gum) disease and potentially reducing the incidence of diabetes and obesity. This new approach focuses on controlling inflammation and sugar levels in both the mouth and body with a common type 2 diabetes drug, Metformin.

Practice of the year 2024

Heidi Marshall, chair of NASDAL, has announced the launch of the 2024 NASDAL Dental Check by One Practice of the Year award. The award seeks to recognise a dental practice that has been successfully implementing and supporting the British Society of Paediatric Dentistry (BSPD) Dental Check by One (DCby1) into their practice. The aim of the campaign is to increase the number of children who access dental care aged 0 to two years old.
