Dental team supports colleague battling cancer

The Museum Square Dental Practice team has come together to support its colleague, Xyanthe Lambert, as she undergoes treatment for stage four bowel cancer.
Xyanthe is a dental nurse who has been part of the Museum Square team for many years, first joining in 2003 and returning in 2015.
She was initially diagnosed with bowel cancer in the summer of 2023 and underwent surgery later that year. However, in 2024, she found out that the cancer had returned and spread, making further surgery not possible. She is currently undergoing chemotherapy with the hope of shrinking the tumour.
Inspired by Xyanthe’s positive attitude, the practice team will take on various challenges this year to raise funds for cancer charities.
Nikki Burrell, a dentist who has been at the practice for 26 years, is taking on the Three Peaks Challenge to support Bowel Cancer UK. The challenge will see her climb Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon in 24 hours, to raise money to support those diagnosed with bowel cancer. Initially, Nikki’s fundraising target was £1,500, but she has already raised £2,700 and has updated her goal to £5,000, with donations still coming in.
Also, Kylie Ablett, a fellow dental nurse, has planned a fundraiser for Cancer Research UK and Bowel Cancer UK in May 2025, while Letitia Blunden, an implant nurse, has set up a JustGiving page to directly support Xyanthe.
Anna Pukovska, practice manager at Museum Square Dental Practice, said, “Xyanthe is an incredible colleague and friend, and we are all deeply moved by her strength and resilience. As a team, we wanted to do something meaningful – to support her, raise awareness, and contribute to the fight against bowel cancer.
“Seeing the team come together for these challenges has been truly inspiring, and we are grateful for the generosity of everyone who has donated so far.”
