The Mydentist Orthodontic Centre staff in Bridgend have gathered together to celebrate the 50th service anniversary of its senior dental nurse, Norma Clements.
The team marked the milestone with a celebratory lunch, where Norma was gifted with flowers and presents in appreciation of her ongoing commitment to the community and dental practice.
Norma began her journey with Mydentist as a dental nurse in 1974, enjoying her role and later progressing to senior dental nurse, playing a vital role in supporting the community of Bridgend with their orthodontic care.
She enjoys interacting with her patients, always ensuring that they feel welcomed, comfortable and taken care of during their appointments. Norma notably goes above and beyond in providing patients with excellent care and, above all else, a friendly face.
Norma commented, “I started at the practice back in 1974, and even on my first day, I thought to myself, I will be here for the rest of my life. I always knew that I wanted to work in healthcare in some form and have always felt passionately about treating others with kindness and compassion, so dental nursing has always felt like the right path for me.”
Norma continued, “I’m so touched that my colleagues remembered this anniversary and I’m very fortunate to be part of such a supportive, caring team who really go above and beyond for every single patient that walks through the door. Our patients really are fantastic, and it’s because of them that I feel such a huge sense of reward from my job – not many people can say that about their work, so I count myself very lucky.”
Outside of her work life, Norma enjoys spending her free time with her husband, two daughters, grandchildren and wider family.

Tom Crandon, specialist orthodontist at Mydentist Bridgend, said, "Norma is part of the furniture here at Bridgend. She has seen three generations of patients going through treatment. We have all gleaned from her knowledge of expertise, owing to her experience."
Kate Williams, the practice manager, added, "Norma is the backbone of the practice, she knows everything there is to know about it. Her familiarity with patients and the local area is invaluable to us – she’s a great asset to our team."
Michelle Shambrook, director of orthodontics at Mydentist, said, “Norma is an integral part of our fabulously engaged Bridgend team. She seems to have a particular gift in making every patient visit a positive and memorable one with first-class service and a personality so distinctive that it shines through- not least in her bright red spectacles.
“A very happy 50th anniversary Norma, we are so grateful you have chosen to gift so much of your time and energy to Mydentist and our patients. We thank you for your outstanding dedication.”
