Thanks to the pioneering efforts of NHS staff and partners, we’re already on track to deliver a greener NHS. But together we can achieve even more.
The NHS Chief Sustainability Officer’s Clinical Fellow Scheme offers clinicians with a passion for sustainability a unique opportunity to embed net zero carbon principles into the delivery of care – with the aim of improving health now and for generations to come.
Successful candidates will step out of clinical practice for 12 months to work in collaboration with NHS senior leadership, teams and partners to deliver on key projects that will accelerate progress towards a net zero health service. They will gain an unparalleled understanding of health and climate change policy while developing strong leadership and management skills, supporting them to become sustainable healthcare leaders of the future.
“This fellowship is an incredible opportunity! Moving from working at a local to a national level has been an exciting challenge. I have been able to work on projects with the nursing directorate around the co-benefits of sustainability for both patients and staff.” – Emma, registered nurse and Chief Sustainability Officer’s Clinical Fellow 2021/22.
The scheme values the diverse skills and experiences of clinicians from all professions and welcomes applications from allied health professionals, dentists, doctors in training, healthcare scientists, nurses, midwives, and pharmacists from across the UK.
The deadline for applications is February 23, 2022.
