The British Association of Dental Nurses (BADN) congratulates Ian Mills on becoming the first recipient of the College Medal – the highest honour of the newly formed College of General Dentistry (CGDent).

The College Medal succeeds the Faculty Medal previously awarded by the Faculty of General Dental Practice UK (FGDP) and is conferred for exceptional service of the dental profession and its patients in a manner aligned with the values and mission of the College.

Ian has received the award in recognition of his considerable contributions to the profession over many years, including through the College - and previously the Faculty - in particular his exemplary leadership at the height of the coronavirus pandemic, his pivotal roles in establishing the CGDent and securing the FGDP’s transfer into it last year, and his promotion of greater equality, diversity and inclusion in the dental professions.

“Ian Mills is a worthy recipient of the first College Medal” said BADN president Jacqui Elsden.

“I have had the honour of working with Ian during his tenure as Dean of the Faculty, and am delighted that his hard work and exemplary leadership, particularly during the pandemic, has been recognised. On behalf of BADN, I should like to congratulate Ian on receiving the Medal.”
