The British Association of Dental Nurses (BADN) has announced that honorary president Joan Hatchard, president-elect Preetee Hylton and chief executive Pam Swain have accepted an invitation from the Mouth Cancer Foundation to become foundation ambassadors.

Mouth Cancer is the general term given to the variety of malignant tumours that develop in the mouth. The Mouth Cancer Foundation promotes awareness of all head and neck cancers including throat, (pharynx), voice box (larynx), salivary glands, nose, paranasal, sinuses, lips and skin.

Mahesh Kumar, president of the Mouth Cancer Foundation and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon, said, “The Mouth Cancer Foundation is delighted to have support from the British Association of Dental Nurses.

“We look forward to working closely with our new honorary ambassadors Joan, Preetee and Pam to raise awareness of all head and neck cancers. Dental nurses are at the forefront of delivering oral cancer care for patients and assisting with tooth, gum and mouth problems. They know the signs and symptoms of mouth cancer and are in a prime spot to assist dentists with the early detection of the disease. By organisations uniting together, we can be a stronger force in the battle against head and neck cancers and campaign for good oral health for everyone.”

Joan, Preetee and Pam will take up their roles as ambassadors at a meeting in March 2024.
